Patrons

[excerpt from Encyclopaedia Theologica: A Panoptic Primer on the Pantheon, Planes, and Patrons of Ylan, 5th ed., by the gnomish scholar Miriam Busslewickett]

Patrons are demigods, a step below the Old Gods in the cosmological hierarchy. They are believed to reside on the plane of Transcendence, where communications may reach them through the Astral plane.

There are two general categories of Patrons: racial Patrons, who the Old Gods created as intermediaries between themselves and their creations on the Prime Material plane; and all other Patrons, mortals who have Transcended the Prime Material plane due to their paradigmatic devotion to, or exemplification of, a particular ideal. Patrons usually align themselves to some degree with creation or entropy along a spectrum of good and evil.

Racial Patrons
Ferrol: elves
Drome: dwarves
Maribor: humans
Tillith: halflings
Gal’eoch: dragonkin

Other Patrons

Benzelius: Patron of Necromancy
